We are blessed to have such a dedicated, hardworking leader in Pastor Matthew Goetz. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pastor Goetz carries a sincere burden to advance the Gospel in our region. Almost immediately following his dramatic conversion to the Lord at age 20 he began sharing his testimony and preaching, whether in church, on the streets of the city, in jails, at nursing homes, and among at-risk youth. God called him into the ministry and led him to Pensacola Theological Seminary where he earned his Master’s of Divinity. In March of 2014 he responded again to the Lord’s directive to pastor AVBC and since that time he has spearheaded a new and successful direction for the ministry.

Pastor Goetz has his loving wife, Faith, beside him in the work, as well as their firstborn son Jonathan, spirited young daughter Joanna, and the littlest of the bunch Josiah. Together they enjoy telling people about God’s love and making each other laugh. Beyond reading and studying Scripture Pastor Goetz thoroughly enjoys the outdoors, a bold cup of coffee, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins. His enthusiastic preaching style coupled with his articulate proclamation of God’s truth energizes his audiences to climb to higher levels in their devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ.
